1990 - Sunset Ride
This year's poster artwork by David Doherty features a 1948 Ford Woodie at the Oceanside Pier on a late September evening. This beach, which was the site for Wavecrest in 1987, 1988, and 1989, was also a popular surfing spot in the 1960's. David has skillfully translated his memories of surfing the late afternoon "glass off" to create this poster.

David Doherty studied Fine Arts at El Camino College and individually with Harriet Pick, Robert Powers, and Jack McClain. His paintings are enhanced by his intimate knowledge of Woodies, having restored three of these unique and and beautiful cars.
David and his wife Diane currently own a 1947 Ford Super Deluxe Station Wagon and serve
on the Wavecrest Committee. They are both members of the National Woodie Club.
