Surf Legends Posters        "While they Last"

1993 - Coast Ride

This year's poster for the 14th Annual Wavecrest depicts a scene with our Woodies on Highway 101 at the historic Encinitas Santa Fe Train Station.

Built in 1887, the original site of train station was across the tracks from the old Derby House, which still stands today. In 1972, after debates about moving it to the Del Mar Race Track, it was moved to its current location on Highway 101 at the north end of Encinitas. For a period of time it served as a hobby shop, then in 1982 the Pannikin Coffee & Tea Shop moved in.1993 Wavecrest Poster "Coast Ride" by David Doherty

The 1993 poster art shows a group of Woodie owners stopping by the old train station for a cup of afternoon coffee or tea. The vehicles illustrated this year are Barry & Dellrae Marassi's 1939 Ford, Phil Stone's 1948 Chevrolet, Keith Sears' 1939 Ford, Dan Pauly's 1938 Plymouth, and Ron Heiden's 1951 Ford.
